March 23: March to Fort Congaree

The 12,000 Year History Park and partners invite families to explore Colonial Cayce as they walk the trail to the site of old Fort Congaree. Rediscover how this location was instrumental in forging a state and nation. Investigate period artifacts and converse with 18th-century-dressed historians. Programming includes historical demonstration and live cannon and musket firings!

Some of the many exhibits and demonstrations include weapons and archery; English country dancing; diversity of people including women spies; games and toys; and much more!

Special presentations will be offered to the public courtesy of the 12,000 Year History Park and their partners: The City of Cayce, The Cayce Museum, The State Museum, The Powder Magazine Museum, Historic Columbia, Historic Camden, and Explore Colonial SC volunteers.

This free community day is open to the public. The 12,000 Year History Park is located at 1120 Fort Congaree Trail, Cayce SC. Take Interstate 77, Exit 2. Parking will be provided courtesy of the Cayce Tennis Center.
